Introduction: The College of Social Sciences via the Glasgow university postgraduate scholarships is offering several scholarship including the Research Training Support Grant, ESRC Funded Students,  Non-ESRC funded students,  RTSG Contact/s, Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU)
British Council,  Canada-UK Foundation, Canadian Centenial Scholarship Fund, the Carnegie Trust, Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Plan (CSFP), Erasmus+, FindAPhD, Institute of International Education (IIE), Marshall Scholarships, Research Professional, Scholarships and Funding Database , 
Support and Development for Postgraduate Researchers  and  a discount to former University of Glasgow graduates (Alumni) wishing to pursue a Postgraduate Research Degree in the College.

Discount grant

This discount will be for all Postgraduate Research Students (PhD, EdD, MPhil by Research & MLitt) full and part-time, who have previously completed an Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree at the University of Glasgow.

Value: an annual bursary equivalent to the RCUK rate – £14,002, fees at the standard Home/EU or International rate, a research support grant of £750 (£375 part-time) per annum.

Eligibility: Prospective Home/EU and International PhD students are eligible to apply as well as students already in their first year of a University of Glasgow PhD.glasgow university postgraduate scholarships

Research Training Support Grant

The Research Training Support Grant (RTSG) can be accessed by students whose funding provides access to the RTSG and this fund is intended to be used to pay for expenses related to direct support of academic/ study research. These include: Fieldwork expenses, UK, EU and overseas conferences and summer schools, Language training courses usually undertaken in the UK prior to an overseas fieldwork trip, reimbursement of interpreters, guides, assistants, Survey costs e.g. printing, stationery, telephone calls, Purchase of small items of equipment e.g. cameras, tape recorders, films, cassettes, Gifts for local informants, Books and other reading material not available through libraries.

The Research Training Support Grant  can not be used for Laptops , other computer equipment , Visa/Immigration expenses , Subscription costs to academic societies, professional bodies , Proofreading, Journal , subscriptions, Job interview expenses and Business cards
